Funeral Services for William J. Blanks, 87, of Bellville, were held on Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at 11 a.m. from Industry United Methodist Church with the Rev. Timothy Abel officiating. Interment was in the Industry Methodist Cemetery in Industry. Serving as pallbearers were Charles Vavricka, Derrick Haas, C.S. Pennywell, Greg Pennywell, Russell Blanks and Carlton Parker. You may have never met a better man. William J. Blanks, born July 27, 1918 in Edna, Texas passed away peacefully in his sleep with his family members at his side on May 27, 2006 in Brenham. Bill retired from Southwestern Bell after 42 years of service. He was a World War II Veteran and a member of the CBI Organization. He and his wife, Freddie June were charter members of Terrace United Methodist Church in Houston,. He graduated from San Jacinto High School and University of Houston. Mr. and Mrs. Blanks were also a host family for Foreign Field Service Students. Bill and his wife spent their retirement years on their farm in Austin County where they were members of Industry United Methodist Church. He was a Father, a friend, a mentor he was our hero. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Freddie June Blanks; his son, Wayne Blanks and wife Diane; daughter, Janet Vavricka and husband Charles; grandchildren, Russell Blanks, Kara Irvine and husband Keith, Amee Maxwell, Charliann Vavricka, Jennifer Haas and husband Derrick; great grandson, Luke Harrison Haas. He is predeceased by his mother, Elizabeth Irby Blanks, father, Samuel Fleming Blanks and sister, Laura Elizabeth Parker.
