Maj. Michael T. Bloom, USA Ret., of Frydek, died peacefully April 22, 2006
at the age of 62.
He was born Oct. 10, 1943 to Norma (Bloom) Miller and Lt. Col. Francis James
Bloom, USA Ret,
Mike graduated from A&M Consolidated High School in College Station in 1961.
He attended Texas A&M University and was a member of the Corp. of Cadets.
He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the
University of Houston in 1971, but always considered himself to be 110%
Aggie.
Although formally educated, Mike always had a thirst for knowledge. He was
an avid reader and loved to experiment with new technology. Mike was also
inducted as a member of Mensa.
Mike spent his career as an International Sales Manager in the electric
utility industry traveling to far and distant places of the world. In 2002,
Mike made a career change into law enforcement and proudly served with the
Austin County Sheriffs Office as a Sergeant in Jail Administration.
Mike was an active community member in Spring Branch (Houston) and Frydek.
He was very involved and supportive of his children's sports and
extracurricular activities in the Spring Branch School District as a Coach
and PTA President He was a San Felipe-Frydek Volunteer Fire Fighter,
Training Officer and Certification Coordinator; a Commissioner for the
Austin County Emergency Services District Number One serving as the
Secretary; a member of the Austin County Firefighters Association serving as
the Secretary: a member of the Austin County Peace Officers' Association; a
member of the American Legion; a Lifetime Member of the 100 Club; a past
member of the Confederate Air Force and an accomplished raffle ticket seller
for local fund-raising events.
Mike never met a stranger and loved to tell stories about his travels. He
would always return from his trips and shower his friends and family with
trinkets and gifts.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Norma Miller.
He is survived by the love of his life, Patty Bloom; his father, Francis
James (Hank) Bloom and wife Joyce of Wells, Texas; his daughter Traci Creasy
and husband Rick and granddaughter Crystal of Willis Texas; his sons Corby
T. Bloom, wife, Lee, and their children, Tyler T., Bobbie and Tori of
Wimberley, Texas, Darcy Bloom and wife Jill of Albuquerque, N.M.; his
brother, Jim Ed Bloom and his sisters, Linda Fort and Cathey Wise and many
nieces and nephews.
Services and visitation will be handled through Knesek Funeral Home on
Highway 36 in Sealy. Funeral Services was held Tuesday, April 25. 2006 at 10
a.m. with Father Bernard Snock officiating. Interment followed at St. Mary's
Frydek Catholic Cemetery,
A reception was held at St. Mary's Parish Hall in Frydek after the graveside
service.
Mike was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend
and will be greatly missed.
Donations can be made in his name to the San Felipe-Frydek Volunteer Fire
