Bellville Times
Waco Buntzel, 92, of Peters Community, passed away May 10, 2006 at his home in Brenham, Texas. He was born March 27, l914 to Ernst and Emma Porter Buntzel of Peters. Waco attended the Peters School and subsequently worked in security for the railroad, defending the twin Mill Creek Bridges in the early 1940ıs. He joined the U. S. Army and faithfully served his country both during World War II and the Korean Crisis. He was honored with special commendations for his loyal service. In 1946 he married Willie Mae Vornkahl, and they eventually made their home in Houston. Waco was employed and retired as a security guard for Monsanto Chemical Company in Texas City. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his sister-in-law, Lorene Vornkahl, his brother, Dallas Buntzel and his wife Elsie. He is survived by brothers-in-law, Henry Lee Vornkahl and wife Barbara of Houston, Leroy Vornkahl and wife Pat of Peters and Melvin Earl Vornkahl and wife Edy of Montgomery and several nieces and nephews. Waco was laid to rest at Pilgrimıs Rest Cemetery in Bellville on May 14, 2006. Graveside services were conducted by the Reverend Milroy Gregor.
