Funeral services for William "Bill" M. Clower, 78, of New Ulm, Texas were held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 18, 2006 from Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel in Bellville with Rev. Milroy Gregor officiating. Graveside services were held on Sunday, August 20, 2006 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis, Tennessee. Born in Belzoni, Mississippi, Bill was the son of John and Louise (Mobley) Clower. He was raised in Belzoni and attended school in Belzoni as well as The University of Mississippi. He worked as a Plantation Manager in Mississippi and was County Drainage Commission President for 7 years and 4th District Planning Commission for 10 years in Washington County, Mississippi. On January, 14, 1986 Mr. William M. Clower was joined in marriage to the former Miss Katherine Diane Odom with a ceremony held in Goodman, Mississippi. William has lived in New Ulm, Texas for the past 20 years. He was a member of the Lions Club where he served as past District Governor and Council Chairman in Mississippi and a lay leader of the Methodist Church in Leland, Mississippi. William Mansell Clower died suddenly in his home in New Ulm on August 16, 2006. He is survived by his wife, Kay Clower of New Ulm, sons, William Clower, Jr. of Leedville, Colorado, John Clower of Drummunds, Tennessee and Howard Clower of Benoit, Mississippi, sister Loraine Upchurch of Memphis, Tennessee, grandchildren, Hank, Jesse, and Sarah Clower and many friends. Preceded in death by his parents, John and Louise Clower and brother-in-law, Howard Upcurch. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice in the name of William M. Clower.
