Doris Marie LloydCrow was born Jan. 23, 1929 in Anson, Texas, the daughter of William Fredrick and Etta Haggie Lloyd. She grew up and attended school in Houston graduating from John Reagan High School. On Dec. 5, 1952, she married John Edward Crow in Houston. They made their home in Houston where Doris was employed as a Chief Operator for Southwestern Bell and AT&T with 35 years of perfect attendance. In 1990, Doris and John retired and moved to Hempstead where they were members of the Hempstead Church of Christ. Doris enjoyed sports of all kinds and was actively involved in her church. She passed away Sunday, Nov. 5, 2006 in Bellville at the age of 77. She is survived by her husband of almost 54 years John E. Crow of Palacios; son Jerry Crow and his wife, Deborah, also of Palacios; grandchildren Jason Crow of Corsicana, Melissa Failla of Rosenberg and Stacy Hobbs of College Station; sisters Ruth Flukinger of Hempstead and Lora Bilbro of Bells, Texas; brother John Lloyd of Beaumont; and many other dear friends and relatives. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Faye Watson and her brother, Weldon Lloyd. Funeral Service was 10 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006 at Hempstead Church of Christ with Eugene Dewveall, Officiating Interment was in Hempstead City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jason Crow, Robbie Failla, Aaron Hobbs, Freddie Zach, Michael Zach and John Milton Crow. In lieu of usual remembrances, friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the: Alzheimer's Association Houston and Southeast Texas Chapter, 2242 West Holcombe Boulevard, Houston, Texas 77030-2008. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Schmidt Funeral Home in Bellville.
