Funeral services for Ignac Phil Ermis, 78, of Sealy, were held Saturday, April 22, 2006, at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Ray Schmidt celebrating the funeral mass and rite of committal. Ignac Phil Ermis, "The Fan Man," died Tuesday, April 18th, 2006 in Houston. Graveside services were held at 2:30 p.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Plum, Texas. Ignac Phillip Ermis, Jr. was born and raised in Plum, the son of Ignac, P. Sr. and Annie Vaclavik Ermis. He attended St. Jerome Catholic School in Plum. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1948. Phil worked as a mechanic for Tenneco oil refinery until 1977 when he opened and operated Texas Ceiling Fans in Sealy. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Sealy American Legion. He is survived by his daughter -- Judy Kelley of Houston; his son -- Lawrence "Larry" Ermis of Houston; sisters: Pauline M. Ermis of Victoria; Evelyn Przyborski of Houston; Lillian Machala of Plum; Agnes Weikel and husband Elmer, of Houston; Loretta Brugger of La Grange; brother -- Basil Ermis of West Point; six grandchildren: Stephen Kelley, Russell Kelley, Tiffany Hundley and husband Jerry; Rhett Ermis; Reese Ermis; Rain Ermis; three great-grandchildren and special friend Mary Lou Svatek. Serving as pallbearers were Rhett Ermis, Reese Ermis, Rain Ermis, Stephen Kelley, Michael Svatek and Christopher Svatek. Services under the direction of Knesek Family Funeral Chapels.
