Katherine was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Duncan Kemp of Amite, La. and her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Remmert of Bellville. Katherine was born to Bruce and Neville (Kemp) Remmert on May 1, 1970, in Houston. She was raised in Houston and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School, graduating in 1988. She was a very proud Aggie, graduating from Texas A&M with a degree in Agricultural Economics in 1992. While at A&M, she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Social Sorority, The Saddle and Sirloin Club, and rode with the polo team her freshman year. Katherine was a very beautiful person, both physically and spiritually. Her smile could light up a room and her kind and loving heart drew everyone to her. Her kind heart led her to rescue many abandoned and injured animals, treating their injuries, nutering them, and finding them a home, if not hers, all at her expense. She was truly a very unique individual who added so very much to this world. At the time of her death, she was living her life-long dream of working with horses as the Ranch Manager of the horse operation at the Rockin¹ M Peruvian Paso Ranch in Stephenville, owned by Mr. and Mrs. Mike Mewhinney who gave Katherine the freedom to expand her talents in this area. She bred, trained, and showed many champion horses at shows over the country and had developed quite a reputation as an accomplished rider and trainer. She was the featured Expert of the Month in ranch management in the recent issue of the magazine, ³Peruvian Classified.² She was also well known on the barrel circuit in central Texas with her Buckskin, her beloved Monte. Besides her own job, Katherine worked with her husband in their company, Floyd Performance Stock, developing through genetics their own individual strain of bucking bulls, whose reputations had also begun to grow. Katherine also solicited food and funds for abandoned horses after Hurricane Katrina. Those wishing to honor her memory may do so by donating to Hopeful Haven Equine Rescue Organization, Inc., P.O.
