Funeral services for Norma Elizabeth Franke, 91, of Industry were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006, at the Industry United Methodist Church with Dr. Timothy D. Abel and Reverend Jim Harrell officiating. Interment followed in the Oak Knoll Cemetery in Bellville. A visitation was held at the Zaskoda Chapel in Industry after 3 p.m. on Friday and the family received friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday. Norma Elizabeth Franke was born Nov. 11, 1915, in Industry, the daughter of Edward and Mary Elizabeth (Freier) Franke. She worked as a clerk for Franke¹s Grocery Store for many years and was the caretaker for her parents their entire lifetime. She was the owner of Franke¹s Liquor Store and was a very skilled quilter and made many quilts for local organizations and people near and far for over 35 years. She was an excellent baker especially making kolaches for various community fund raisers including the Industry Volunteer Fire Department. She was a member of the Industry United Methodist Church, a member of the Bertha Circle, where she received her 20 year pin and was a communion server for many years. She was also a member of the Shelby Sons of Hermann Lodge #25 and the West End Historical Society. Miss Franke passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Dec., 13, 2006, at Trinity Medical Center in Brenham at the age of 91 years, 1 month and 2 days. She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Mary Elizabeth (Freier) Franke; brothers, Arthur, Erwin and Monroe Franke and sister, Laura Pavlovsky. Survivors include: Sisters, Almeida Bravenec of Houston and Louise Frank of Industry; sister-in-law, Opal Franke of the Highlands; nephews, Charlie Pavlovsky, Frank Pavlovsky, David Franke, Derwood Franke, Danny Franke, Erwin Franke, Jr., Waldo Franke, Wilbert ³Bubba² Frank, Jr.; nieces, Judy Rudloff, Carol Gilbert, Dorothy Gross, Linda Davenport, Joan Caffey; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews also survive. Active Pallbearers: Charlie Pavlovsky, Wilbert ³Bubba² Frank, Jr., Delroy Gross, Dwayne Gross, Dustin Gross, Melvin Gilbert. Honorary Pallbearers: Frank Pavlovsky, Richard Davenport, David Caffey, Jr., Waldo Franke, Erwin Franke, Jr., David Franke, Derwood Franke, Danny Franke, Hubert Yoist, Harlie Hackamack, Edwin Kuehn.
