Holton
Mildred Evelyn Holton was born in Houston to parents William and Onita
Shields Riggs.
She grew up in The Heights graduating from San Jacinto High School.
Mildred was united in marriage with Lybron W. "Jack" Holton Jr. on Feb. 21,
1959 in Houston.
Mildred and Jack made their home in Houston where Mildred was employed as a
receptionist for Texaco. In 1978 they retired to Austin County.
Jack preceded Mildred in death on Jan. 25, 1991.
Mildred enjoyed gardening, shopping and doing ceramics. She also loved cats
and dogs. She was a Catholic by faith.
She passed away Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006 in Bellville.
She is survived by a host of friends and relatives and her beloved dog, Mr.
York.
Graveside service was 10 a.m., Monday, Oct. 30, 2006 at Forest Park Lawndale
Cemetery in Houston with the Rev. Bo Young officiating.
In lieu of usual remembrances, friends who wish may make memorial gifts to
the Austin County Unit of the American Cancer Society, C/O Verna Lois Deere,
P.O. Box 501, Bellville, Texas 77418.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Schmidt Funeral Home in
Bellville.
