Virginia Hoppe, 85, of Bay City was called home to be with her Lord Monday, January 30, 2006. She passed away at her residence following a short illness She was born in Star Hill, Texas on August 1, 1920 to parents, Max and Helen Kristen Sternenberg. She was a seamstress and worked as an election official for many years but her true passion was her church. She served St. Peteršs Lutheran Church as a charter member and chaired or served on many committees as well as directed the Alter Guild. She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Allen P. Hoppe and her parents. She is survived by a son and his wife, Charles A. and Linda Hoppe of Gause, Texas; daughters, Helen and Rupert Franzisko of Bay City and Karen and Brian Hindelang, of San Antonio; a sister, Gloria Biggs of Industry, Texas; a brother-in-law, Clarence (Jim) Hoppe of Seguin, Texas; a sister-in-law, Ester Hoppe of Seguin, Texas; and grandchildren, Cossondra and husband Kenneth Morrill of Lake Park, Georgia and Bradley and Kristen Hindelang of Austin. A visitation was held at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 1st from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Funeral services were held Thursday, February 2, at 10:00 AM at the St. Peters Lutheran Church with Rev. Eric Klempel officiating. Burial followed at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Pallbearers were Landa Schraub, Clark Bergstrom, Gene Foehner, B.J. Krenek, Wayne Miles and Roger Peterson. Honorary pallbearers were Bradley Hindelang, Kenneth Morrill, Jimmy Craft, Robert Littlefield, Nick Kalisek and David Kruthoff. The family would like to thank Myrtle and Betty and workers of Houston Hospice of El Campo. The family also requests that memorial contributions be made to the St. Peters Lutheran Church, 1909 Peach, Bay City, TX 77414. Services were under the direction of Bay City Funeral Home.
