William Andrew Hudgins died on April 22, 2006 in Bellville just six days after his 97th birthday. Funeral services were conducted April 26 at Heights Funeral Home. Mr. Hudgins was born in Houston on April 16, 1909 to Robert Andrew and Lillie Hudgins. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Grace Kemp, two brothers, Millard and Norman; his wife of 73 years, Naomi; and one great-grandson, Stephen Ellis Hudgins. He is survived by his two sons, Ellis and Bill; six grandchildren: Mike, Doyle, martin, Matt, Kyle and Amy; eight great grandchildren: Brandon, Lauren, Sean, Kaitlin, Ethan, Erin, Caleb and Macy; two nieces and three nephews. William worked for Mosher Steel Co. as a Structural Steel detailer, checker, and group leader for over 47 years. His rojecs included the detailing of the steel framework in the star atop the San Jacinto Monument, a number of Titan Missile Silos across the northwest, and many others. He was a member of the Reagan High School class of 1927. He served many years as a Sunday school teacher and deacon and a SUnday school teacher at Wallowwood Baptist Church. He was a long-time Scouter and Scoutmaster for Troop 33. He was one of the first adult Scouters admitted to the Order of the Arrow and later achieved his Brotherhood Award. Mr. Hudgins had been a resident of Briarwood Care Center in Bellville for more than two years. Posted by Joy Neely
