Marcus E. Kenter, Sr. passed away at home on Saturday, June 17, 2006 from Lung Cancer. He was born on June 3, 1921 and was raised in Bellville. Marcus served as a Tech Sergeant in the Army Air Force from 1941 until 1945, seeing action in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Marcus married his high school sweetheart, Rona Dell Coward in 1941 and resided in the Galveston and Texas City area for 35 years where he retired from Monsanto Chemical Company. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Rona Dell Coward Kenter; their son Marcus "Corky" Kenter, Jr. and wife Debby of Huntsville; their daughter, Glenda Kenter Lee and husband James of Houston; grandchildren, Corby Kenter and wife Andee, Courtlan Kenter and wife Jeseica, Montana Lee and Britton Lee; great granddaughter Kylar Kenter; his sisters Mary Jane Gordon and Elizabeth Skalak of Bellville and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Marcus was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville. A memorial service celebrating his life was held on Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at 2 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, 520 N.
