Funeral service for Lydia Mae Kubricht, 98, of Rosenberg, were held Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at 2 p.m. from Knesek and Bros. Funeral Home in Wallis, with the Rev. John Tyler officiating. Mrs. Kubricht died March 11, 2006 in College Station. Interment was at the Wallis City Cemetery. Pallbearers serving were Michael Sangl, Lane Sangl, Kenton Shimshack, Mark Shimshack, Kevin Kubricht and James Kubricht. Born in Skidmore, Lydia was the daughter of Joseph and Amalie (Juchelka) Tobola. She was raised in Skidmore and Rosenberg. Mrs. Kubricht graduated from Rosenberg Public School, and from Texas Women's College in Denton. As a school teacher at Wallis Elementary School, Lydia taught many residents in the Wallis area and she was the librarian at the elementary school when she retired from teaching. The former Miss Lydia Mae Tobola married Mr. John Kubright on Dec. 19, 1930. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and an active volunteer of the American Cancer Society. Lydia loved to tend to her flowers and vegetables in the garden. She also loved her cats, birds and made room in her heart for dogs. She very much enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, reading, and family gatherings. Her survivors are her son and daughter-in-law, Donnie and Elizabeth Kubricht, son John M. Kubricht and seven brothers and sisters, and one grandson, John Kyle Kubricht. Arrangements under the direction of Knesek Family Funeral Chapels, Wallis. Posted by Joy Neely
