Bessie Mae Sebesta Lehmann was born March 20, 1923 in Oak Hill. The daughter of Joe and Anna Cermak Sebesta, she was baptized May 10, 1923 and confirmed Aug. 1, 1937 at the Nelsonville Brethren Church. On March 19, 1949, Bessie married Herman Albert Lehmann at the Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham and made their home in Bellville. Bessie was preceded in death by Herman on June 25, 2004 after 55 years of marriage. A lifelong member of the Nelsonville Brethren Church, Bessie enjoyed being a homemaker, sewing and gardening. She was a member of the SPJST Bleiblerville/Nelsonville Lodge. Bessie passed away Friday, Jan. 13, 2006 in a Bellville nursing facility at the age of 82. She leaves behind her son Kenneth Wayne Lehmann and his wife, Betty of Brenham; her brother Ben Sebesta and his wife, Lois, of Bellville; sister-in-law Vernita Dora Lehmann of Brenham; and many other friends and relatives. Bessie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, John Sebesta, and 2 sisters Vlasta Templeton, Libbie Eckermann and Albina Urbanovsky. Funeral service was 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2006 at Nelsonville Brethren Church with the Rev. Michael Groseclose officiating. Pallbearers were Warren Klump, Raymond Cooke, Ernest Lee Urbanovsky, Kenny Witt, John Henry Urbanovsky and Eugene Urbanovsky. Alton Urbanovsky and Antone Schrader were honorary pallbearers. Interment followed in the Nelsonville National Cemetery. In lieu of usual remembrances, friends who wish may make memorial gifts to: Nelsonville Brethren Church Building Fund, 332 Nelsonville Church Road, Bellville, Texas 77418.
