Funeral Services for Genell Meyer, 80, of Orchard were held Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2006 at 10 a.m. from the Wallis United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rick Walters officiating. Interment was at the Orchard Cemetery. Pallbearers were Michael Gaskamp, Jonathan Gaskamp, Jeremy Meyer, Tim Cross, Steve Williams and Mark Morris. Born in Flatonia, Genell was the daughter of Fritz and Hattie Rabe Ling. She was raised and attended school in Flatonia. On Sept. 23,1940 the former Miss Genell Ling married Fred Meyer in Yoakum. She was a Homemaker, a member of Wallis United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Wallis American Legion Auxiliary. Genell Meyer died after a lengthy illness on Friday, Sept. 29, 2006 in Rosenberg. Survived by her daughter Debbie Gaskamp of Orchard; sons and daughters-in-law Don and Jo Ann Meyer of Beasley and Fred and Carol Meyer of Stockton, Calif.; brother and sister-in-law Eugene and Georgie Ling of Richmond; grandchildren Chris Meyer and wife Vickie of Stockton, Crystal Cross and husband Tiro of Needville, Jeremy Meyer and wife Lisa of Richmond, Michael Gaskamp and wife Lesli of Orchard and Jonathan Gaskamp of Orchard; great grandchildren Cisicly, C.J. and Arian Meyer of Stockton, Jordan Graze of Needville, Toni Gaskamp of Orchard and numerous of nieces and nephews and very special people in her home Bill and Mickie Poliquin, Mark Morris, Jeff Ware, Michael Zurovec and Ben Parker. Preceded in death by her parents Fritz and Hattie Ling, husband Fred Meyer, sisterLorine Wappler, brother William Ling and son-in-law Ervin Gaskamp.
