Graveside services for Verlin Reuben Olson, 86, of Sealy were conducted April 17, 2006 at Houston Veterans National Cemetery in Houston. He died Wednesday, April 12, 2006 in Sealy. Born in Yankton, South Dakota, he was the son of Albin and Louise Olson. A WWII veteran, he served in many capacities including Saipan, Iwo Jima, Okinowa and Shanghai, China, and Hong Kong. He was awarded many medals including the Service Medal and the WWII Victory Medal. He married the former Normal Olean Trammell in Corpus Christi on July 5, 1947. They were married 40 years when Mrs. Olson died in 1987. He was a member of the Sealy American Legion Post 442, the National Assoc. of Letter Carriers, and CIO Union Branch 1259 Corpus Christi. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sealy. He is survived by his son Gary W. Olson of Sealy; sister Juanita Carlson of Box Elder, South Dakota; brother Glen Olson, Yankton, South Dakota; Howard Olson of Kansas City and sister Ione Ponx of St. Paul, Minn.
