Penelope Daniels Pearson passed away peacefully at her home in Bellville on
Nov. 25, 2006.
Penny was born on March 22, 1937 in Edinburgh, Texas to Robertson Balfour
and Lola Burran Daniels.
During her fatherıs World War II service, she resided at Fort Totten in
Little Neck, N.Y.
Penny grew up in Houston, where she was among the earliest students to
attend St. Johnıs School. For high school, she was a boarding student at
Miss Porterıs School in Farmington, Connecticut. Penny attended Wellsley
College, and completed her degree work at the University of Texas.
She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth ³Wendy² Trachte-Huber and
Rebecca Pearson; her brother David Daniels; son-in-law Stephen K. Huber; and
by her four grandchildren: Jennifer Trachte, Robert Huber, Matthew Anderson,
and Megan Anderson. She was preceded in death by her companion Robert L.
Booth.  The family expresses its deepest appreciation to her caregivers,
above all Loretta Harris.
Equestrian activities were an important part of Pennyıs life since
childhood.  She won numerous ribbons and competitions, including Texas
Hunter & Jumper Association Green Confirmation Hunter Champion in 1965. For
some years she lived in Middleburg, Va. where she was an editor and reporter
for The Chronicle of the Horse. At one point, she and her children lived in
the carriage house of the Chief Justice John Marshall estate in Delaplane,
Va.  
Penny returned to Houston to care for her elderly parents, after which she
resumed her education, receiving the Masters in Social Work (MSW) degree
from the University of Texas. Penny then served as a social worker at the
Harris County Psychiatric Center and at United Healthcare, before retiring
to her farm in Bellville.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m.  on Sunday, Dec. 3 at St. Maryıs
Episcopal Church, 24 North Masonic Street in Bellville.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Maryıs Episcopal Church in Bellville.
