Johnny Jovan Schuknecht, Sr., was born June 18, 1939 in Petty, TX the son of Johnny and Gertrude Scheffel Schuknecht. He died February 11, 2006 in Katy. He was 66. Services were conducted Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at Memorial Lutheran Church in Katy. Interment was in Cat Spring Cemetery. Schuknecht was baptized in Wilson, TX. He grew up and attended school in Lynn County, TX, graduating from New Home High School in 1957. He served his country in the United States Army and in the Army Reserves. Schuknecht was united in marriage with Carol Schaar in Houston in September of 1962. They made their home in Freemont, Nebraska. In 1978 they moved to Sealy where they lived for a brief time before making their home in Pattison. Schuknecht had been employed as an inside salesman for Lubrications System, retiring after 23 years of service. A member of the Memorial Lutheran Church in Katy, Mr. Schuknecht was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He especially treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting, and he and Carol were members of the Summit Campground near Canyon Lake. Schuknecht also enjoyed crafts such as ceramcis, wood burning and model airplanes. Schuknecht and his wife also became avid square dancers. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Carol Yvonne Schuknecht of Pattison; sons -- Johnny Jovan Schuknecht Jr. and wife, Louanne of Somerset; Carl Wesley Schuknecht and wife Pamella, of Cat Spring; daughter -- Trudy Lou Bubela and husband, Glen, of Danevang; grandchildren -- Nickey Schuknecht, Sarah and Alex Bubela; and great grandson -- Dakota Garcia; his mother -- Gertrude Schuknecht of Tahoka; brothers -- David Schuknecht and wife, Cathy, of Wolfforth; and Dwayne Schuknecht and wife, Donna, of Tahoka; and many friends and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father and three sisters. Pallbearers were Glen Bubela, Preston Smith, Brice Hesche, James Hill, Shawn Schuknecht, and Walt Autry. Honorary pallbearers were Lane Schuknecht, Alex Bubela, Dakota Garcia and Christopher Schuknecht.
