Wayne Elton Schulke peacefully passed away at home on Sunday, April 2 2006 at the age of 60, after a two-year battle with cancer. He was born in Houston on Nov. 26, 1945 to Evelyn and Albert Schulke. After graduating from Texas Tech University, Wayne served in the United States Air Force at Reese Air Force base in Lubbock, Texas. He was a great caring man who loved his wife and family. Wayne was a faithful loving husband to his wife Paula for the 24 years of their marriage. He always took care of others before himself and taught his two sons how to be men. His love of the outdoors became a big part of his life and others around him. His unselfish ways will remain a legacy to all those who remember him. Wayne is survived by his wife Paula, his son Matt Schulke and his wife Helen, his son Jason Schulke, his mother Evelyn Gutkowski, his brother Gerald Schulke and his wife Tracy, and his brother Herald Schulke and his wife Malana. Services were held at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in New Braunfels, Texas at 9 a.m. on Thursday, April 6 2006. Burial was held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Hope Hospice; we greatly appreciate their support and service. Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in New Braunfels was in charge of arrangements.
