Sebesta Benjamin "Ben" Sebesta was born March 20,1923 in Oak Hill, the son of Joe and Anna Cermak Sebesta. He grew up and attended school in Oak Hill. Ben served his country during World War II in the United States Army from 1944 until 1946. On Dec. 31, 1947, he married Eloise O. Wiesner in Nelsonville at the Nelsonville Brethren Church. Ben and Eloise have made their home in Bellville where they have been members of the St. John Lutheran Church. During his working years, Ben was employed as a carman for Santa Fe Railroad. He enjoyed gardening and wine making, and was a member of the Bleiblerville and Nelsonville SPJST Lodges. He passed away Sunday, Dec. 3, 2006 in Bellville at the age of 83. He is survived by his wife of almost 59 years, Eloise Sebesta of Bellville; daughter Yvonne Schuster and her husband Karl of Austin; son-in-law Kenny Witt and his wife, Elizabeth, also of Austin; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son David Royce Sebesta, daughter Marsha Sebesta Witt, sisters Albina Urbanovsky, Bessie Lehmann, Vlasta Templeton and Libbie Eckermann, and his brother John Sebesta. Funeral service was 2 p.m., Thursday. Dec. 7, 2006 at St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville with Pastor Jennie Jones and Pastor David Henske, officiating Interment was in National Cemetery in Nelsonville. Serving as pallbearers were Eugene Urbanovsky, John Henry Urbanovsky, Warren Klump, Kenneth Lehmann, Raymond Cooke and Ernest Lee Urbanovsky. Honorary pallbearers were Leonard Urbanovsky, Arthur Arning, Alton Urbanovsky and David Sebesta.
