Funeral services for Bernard Lawrence Touchette, 67, of Bellville, were held Friday, May 12, 2006, at 11 a.m. from Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Sealy. Graveside services were held Friday, May 12, 2006, at 2:30 p.m. from Houston National Veterans Cemetery in Houston. Bernard Lawrence Touchette: 1st Man-Who didn't know half measure, gave it his all. Worked hard at being a righteous man. 2nd Soldier-Loved every minute he was in the service. Gave way beyond the call of duty. Was awarded The Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal and Commendation Medal. Loved his country. 3rd Husband-Teddy Bear of a Heart. Quiet solid spirit. Always trying to do his best in all affairs. 4th Father-Dependable, Kind, Wisdom, Example. Loved each child in his own way and they knew it. 5th Grandfather-Fun, loved and played with each one. All that knew him loved him very much. Born in Gardner, Mass., Bernard was the son of Lawrence and Merle (Brehio) Touchette. He was raised in and attended school in Baldwinville, Mass. Bernard graduated from University of Houston Clear Lake with a Business Degree. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force and retired from the Air Force after 22 years of service. On March 15, 1979 Bernard L. Touchette and Bettye Jo Geer were married with ceremony held in Albuquerque, N.M. He was a technical writer for several companies, including nine years with Stewart and Stevenson. Bernard Lawrence Touchette died on Sunday, May 7, 2006 in Bellville. He is survived by his wife Bettye Touchette of Bellville; his mother Merle Touchette of Gardner, Mass.; his daughters Carol Touchette Spruiell of La Porte, Texas, Toni Touchette Child of Roy, Utah, Nancy Touchette Pierce of Roy, Utah; his sons Marc Scarborough of Houston, John Scarborough of Pasadena, Texas, Joe Scarborough of Manville, Texas, Chad Touchette of Houston, Mike Touchette of Denver, Colo., Christopher Touchette of Houston; brothers Dick Touchette, Bill Touchette; sister Carol Boulay; grandchildren Brent Scarborough, Kevin Spruiell Jr., Justin Scarborough, Alyssa Touchette, Josh Spruiell, Zac Scarborough, Rachel Scarborough, Matthew Spruiell, Jake Scarborough, Mathew, Michael, Kennen and Melissa Child, Kurt Pierce, Piper Kennedy, and great grandson; Jaxon Child. Preceded in death by his father; Lawrence J. Touchette. Memorial contributions may be made to the MD Anderson Cancer Center, Melanoma Dept., P.O.
