Funeral services for Paul J. Becker, 76, of Industry, will be held at 10
a.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2007, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church
in Industry with Father Tim Bucek and Deacon Gerald Dupont officiating.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery. A Knights of Columbus Rosary
will be recited at 6:30 p.m. on Monday followed by a parish vigil service at
7 p.m. with Deacon Gerald Dupont officiating at the Zaskoda Chapel in
Industry. Friends may call the Zaskoda Chapel in Industry after 4:00 PM on
Monday.
Paul Joseph Becker was born October 15, 1930, in the Star Hill Community of
Austin County, Texas, the son of Charlie and Ida (Krenek) Becker. He
attended Industry schools and married Verna Jurecka on August 9, 1953, at
St. John Catholic Church in Fayetteville. He served in the U.S. Air Force
during the Korean War. A lifelong resident of the Industry area, he was a
carpenter and sheetrock finisher in residential and commercial construction.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Industry and
served on numerous committees throughout the years. He was a member of the
Knights of Columbus, Father Edward Geiser Council in Industry and was a
member of the Shelby Sons of Hermann Lodge. He was active in the community
assisting the Boyıs Scouts, the Little League Association, Industry
Volunteer Fire Department Fundraisers, and was a volunteer in the Meals on
Wheels Program. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, but most importantly spending
time with his family and being a part of their many activities.
Mr. Becker passed away Saturday evening, March 10, 2007, at the College
Station Medical Center at the age of 76 years, 4 months and 25 days. He is
preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Ida Becker; (1) son, Joel
Becker; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rudolph and Angeline Jurecka.
Survivors include: his wife of 53 years, Verna Becker of Industry; (2)
daughters, Patsy Schubert and husband Bob of Snook; Deidra Becker and friend
Lester Priesmeyer of El Campo; (1) son, Russell Becker of Industry; (2)
grandchildren, Leighton Paul Schubert of Houston; Leigha Brooke Gautreaux
and husband Bryan of Killeen; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jeanette
Kulhanek of Fayetteville; R. L. Jurecka and wife Kay of Fayetteville; Johnny
Jurecka and wife Nona of New Braunfels; Ruth Beseda and husband Kermit of
Fayetteville; Vernon Jurecka and wife Jan of Ellinger; special cousins,
Frank Krenek and Eugene Krenek and several other cousins, numerous nieces
and nephews and many friends also survive.
Memorials may be made to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Building
Fund in Industry.
