Benkowski Frances Pauline Jezierski Benkowski was born Aug. 7, 1921 in Chappell Hill, the daughter of Pete and Annie Selusiarewski Jezierski. She grew up in Chappell Hill where she attended the Armstrong School and was raised in the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. On Sept. 11. 1940. Frances was united in marriage with Joe Max Benkowski at St. Stanislaus. They made their home in Houston for 37 years before moving to Bellville. Frances and Joe were members of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sealy. Joe Max preceded Frances in death on Jan. 4. 1991. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Frances was a member of the KJZT and the Altar Society. She loved the outdoors, and especially enjoyed gardening. She also liked to work with ceramics, was an excellent seamstress, and enjoyed polka music and dancing. Frances was also active with the food commodities at the local church. Frances passed away Saturday, Sept. 22. 2007, at the age of 86. She is survived by her daughters Marie Novak-Hogan and her husband Toby of Simonton, Marilyn Seidel and her husband Frank of Cypress, Patricia Koteras and her husband Clarence of Spring, Susie Wilganowski and her husband Martin Jr. of Bellville; grandchildren Charles and Cyd Sheere Novak, Joyce and Jimmy LaFleur, Lisa and Richard Wrench, Mary and Ed Lihou, Dana and Glenn Grant, Sara Seidel. Douglas Koteras, Bruce and Mindy Koteras, Steve and Anita Manuel, Theresa and Tom Wilson, Christopher Wilganowski and Russell and Stephanie Wilganowski; 20 great grandchildren and 1 on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joe Max Benkowski, her 4 sisters and her son-in-law Eddie Novak. Funeral Mass was 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sealy with Father Eric Pitre and Monsignor Boli Zientek, co-celebrant. Interment was in Forest Park Westheimer in Houston. Pallbearers were Jimmy LaFleur, Bruce Koteras, Christopher Wilganowski, Charles Novak, Douglas Koteras and Russell Wilganowski. In lieu of usual remembrances, friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the: Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, P.O. Box 337, Sealy, Texas 77474.
