Mrs. Irby "Lee" Blouin Nance Butler passed away Sunday, May 6, 2007 at Clouston House in Spring. Lee was born July 12, 1921 in Houston to Frank Allen and Gladys Irby Blouin. She graduated from Reagan High School in 1938 and married Furman Gibbs Nance in 1943. Lee worked for Transcontinental Pipeline and later Panhandle Eastern Gas Company until 1973. In 1972, her love for antiques prompted her and husband Furman to purchase and restore the "Store" in Cat Spring, where they lived until Furman's death. Lee hosted many banquets at the "Store" and invited any interested by passers in for a look at her prized antiques. Lee's love for history led her to meet and marry GI "Stony" Butler of League City in 1978. They spent their time between the "Store" in Cat Spring and the historic Butler Building in League City. Lee contributed many years of work to the Galveston Historical Society, the League City Historical Society and the East Texas Historical Society as well as the historical Magnolia Creek Cemetery. Mrs Nance Butler is survived by her son Gibbs Nance and wife Linda of Durham, Conn., stepson Robert Butler and wife Anita of Euince, La. and stepdaughter Anna Butler and husband Kyle Sauer of League City. Burial was at the Cat Spring Cemetery, Tuesday, May 15, 2007. Posted by Joy Neely
