Viola May Dittert Carter, age 94, departed this life Saturday, April 14 in Birmingham, Ala. She was born June 28, 1912 in Bellville, the daughter of Edward and Emilie Dittert. Although, a long time member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, she was a member of The Episcopal Church of St. Francis of Assisi, Indian Springs, Ala. for the last 10 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Kenneth Carter; a brother, Edgar Dittert, and great grandson David Jordan. Survivors include two daughters, Frances (Ted) Adams of Livingston, and Mary (Harry) Babbit of Birmingham, Ala., 14 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandsons. Visitation was Thursday, April 19, 2007 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel in Bellville, with services following at 2 p.m. at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Bellville, the Rev. Robert L. Gribble officiating. Burial followed at Oak Knoll Cemetery. Pallbearers serving were her eight grandsons, Robbin Adams, Forest Adams, Paul Adams, Harvey Adams, Timothy Adams, Matthew Adams, Greg Babbit and Max Babbit. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Mark's D.O.K., 3816 Bellaire Blvd. Houston, Texas 77025. Funeral arrangements under the direction of Knesek Family Funeral Chapels in Bellville.
