Mary Kathryn Roberts Darby was born Jan. 31, 1952 in Sealy, the daughter of
George and Ann Howard Roberts. She grew up in and around the Southern
Mississippi and Alabama areas, also living in Houston, Cat Spring and Santa
Fe, N.M.
In August, 1976, Mary Kathryn Roberts was united in marriage with Roland
Bernard Darby in Jamaica. Kathryn raised three children; Thomas Russell, Ash
Bernard and Theresa Anne Darby. She was a devoted stay-at-home wife and
mother. After her children were grown, she made her home in Santa Fe, New
Mexico where she owned Contours Express Gym and worked as a yoga instructor.
Kathryn passed away Friday, July 27, 2007, at the age of 55 in San Marcos.
She is survived by her dughter Theresa Darby of San Marcos; son and
daughter-in-law Ash and Nancy Darby of Austin; mother Ann Howard Roberts of
Houston; sister Andrea Winter of Houston; brother and sister-in-law David
and Colleen Roberts of Houston; grandson Ash Russell Darby of Austin; and
many other friends and relatives.
She was preceded in death by her father and her son, Thomas Darby, in 2005.
Memorial Service was 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 4, 2007 at Schmidt Funeral Home
Chapel in Bellville. with the Rev. Dorathea Cangelosi, officiating.
In lieu of usual remembrances, friends who wish may make memorial gifts to
the: National Down Syndrome Society, 666 Broadway, New York, N.Y. 10012.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Schmidt Funeral Home in
Bellville.
