Alvinlee Flentge was born at home Feb. 2, 1948 in Nelsonville. The son of Alvin John and Leona Peschel Flentge, he grew up and attended school in Bellville. He served his country in the United States Army from 1970 - 1974 before returning to Bellville where he owned and operated A.W. Flentge Service in Nelsonville. Alvinlee was a member of the Nelsonville Brethren Church, West End Lions Club. Shelby American Legion Post #602 and Bellville VFW Post #6522. An avid hunter, he enjoyed cooking shrimp, bowling, doing puzzles and eating popcorn. He was especially proud of the pictures of his grandkids that he kept in his work truck and in the pockets of his overalls. His family and grandkids were his pride and joy. Alvinlee passed away Saturday, June 30, 2007 at the age of 59 at his deer lease in Johnson City. Texas. He is survived by his children Jeannie Lea Logan and her husband. Jeffrey of Michigan City, Ind., Brian Lee Flentge and his wife, Jennifer of Nelsonville, Misty Michelle Craig and her husband, Daniel of LaPorte. Ind., Brett Leon Flentge of Somerville and Brittany Nicole Flentge of Nelsonville; grandchildren Tyler Blake Logan of Michigan City, Ind., Abigail Danielle Craig of LaPorte, Ind. and Cade Ryan Flentge of Nelsonville; mother Leona Peschel Flentge of Nelsonville; brothers Melvinlee Flentge of Nelsonville and Leon Flentge and his wife, Melissa, of Nelsonville; sisters Lavina Oevermann and her husband, Travis of Houston, Ellvina Loehr of Rosenberg, Ona Lee Goodnight and her husband, James, of Oak Hill, Leonalee Alexander of Houston and Emilie Brooks of Houston. He was preceded in death by his father, Alvin John Flentge. Funeral service was 10 a.m., Thursday, July 5, 2007 from Nelsonville Brethren Church with the Rev. Michael Groseclose officiating. Interment was in National Cemetery in Nelsonville. Pallbearers were Larry Slacik, Mike Kasprowicz, Delphine Merkel, Gordon Goebel, Chris Bufkin and James Bohannan. Honorary pallbearers were Carl Ward, Woodrow Duve and West End Lions Club members.
