Earl Dinsmore Gould, Jr. was born Oct. 26, 1924 in Washington, D.C., to parents Earl Dinsmore Gould, Sr. and Mabel Frances Baugh Gould. He grew up on a farm in Fredricksburg, Va. where a Civil War battle was fought. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II attaining the rank of Aviation Electronic Technician's Mate Third Class before his honorable discharge on May 21, 1946. A graduate of Princeton University in Princeton, N.J., Earl was a longtime Petroleum Engineer for Conoco Oil retiring after 27 years of service. He was united in marriage with Earleen Joyce Harper on Sept. 15, 1984. They have made their home in Bellville since September 2006. A lover of jazz, Earl also enjoyed photography, hot air ballooning, stamp collecting and investing. He passed away Friday, May 11, 2007 in a Sealy nursing facility at the age of 82. He is survived by his wife Joyce Gould of Bellville; sons Bart Gould of Shreveport, La., Steve Gould of Tulsa, Okla. and Tony Gould of Key West, Fla.; daughter Frances Gross and her husband, Nile, of Katy; stepchildren Nancy Dickerson of Lillian, Ala., Edward Willy of San Antonio, Jeanette Daeschner of Houston and Melanie Pulos and her husband, Mark, of Bellville; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his step-son, Ralph Gould. Funeral Service was 10 a.m., Thursday, May 17, 2007 from Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ellis Hudgins, officiating. Interment was in Oak Knoll Cemetery in Bellville. Serving as pallbearers were Casey Smith, Glenn Iverson. Mark Pulos, Davis Waldo, Michael Gould and Edward Willy.
