Funeral services for Leona Helen (Minar) Gross, 88, of the Star Hill
Community, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, at St. John Lutheran
Church in New Ulm with Pastor Bill Mosley officiating. Interment was in the
New Ulm Cemtery. Friends called the Zaskoda Chapel in Industry after 3 p.m.
on Friday where the family received friends from 5-7 p.m.
Leona Helen (Minar) Gross was born Aug. 1, 1918, in the Pesak Community,
Texas, the daughter of Edward and Millie (Krenek) Minar.
She was baptized Aug. 15, 1918, at St. John Catholic Church in Fayetteville.
She attended St. Joseph school and Boggy Branch school.
She married Roy Gross on Nov. 22, 1938, in Nelsonville and was a long time
resident of the Star Hill Community.
She was confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in New Ulm on July 21, 1953,
and was a long time member and a past member of the WELCA. She worked
alongside her husband on the farm and enjoyed vegetable and flower
gardening, canning, cooking and baking. She also enjoyed quilting but most
importantly spending time with her family and being a wonderful mother and
grandmother. 
Mrs. Gross passed away Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 14, 2007, at Trinity
Medical Center in Brenham at the age of 88 years, 6 months and 13 days.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Millie (Krenek) Minar
and step-mother, Margaret (Breit) Minar; husband, Roy Gross; son Harold Gene
Gross; sister, Bernice (Minar) Warschak; brothers-in-law and a
sister-in-law, Glen and Florence Gross; Hilbert Galle.
Survivors include: Son, Delroy Gross and wife Dorothy of Industry;
grandsons, Dwayne Gross and wife Emily of Star Hill, Dustin Gross of
Industry; sister-in-law, Aldean Galle of Star Hill; several nieces and
nephews and many friends.
Pallbearers were Dwayne Machinsky, Burnie Galle, Larry Eckermann, Glenn
Gross, Gary Gross, Robert Luedeker.
Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church in New Ulm or Brazos
Valley Hospice in Brenham.
Funeral arrangements by Koenig & Strickland in La Grange.
