Funeral Services for Sylvester A. Janicek, 84, of Wallis, Texas, were held Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at 10 a.m. at Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Wallis with the Rev. Richard Johnston celebrating the funeral mass and rite of committal. Interment was in the Guardian Angel Cemetery in Wallis. Serving as pallbearers were Dr. John Janicek, Jared Janicek, Jacob Janicek, Jason Green, Alfred Janicek, Jr. and Ivan Janicek. Honorary pallbearers were Ivan Kopecky, Mark Green, Joe Minks and Cecil Verm. Sylvester was born in East Bernard, Texas, the son of Charlie and Clara (Kopecky) Janicek. He was raised in Wallis and graduated from Wallis High School. Sylvester served his country in the United States Air Corps. On Dec. 17, 1944 Mr. Sylvester Janicek was joined in marriage to the former Miss Anna Korcak with a ceremony held at Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Wallis. He worked as an operating engineer for a chemical plant. Sylvester was a member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree, K.J.T. and American Legion. Sylvester Janicek passed away Saturday, June 23, 2007 in Katy, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Ann Janicek of Wallis, daughter, Barbara Green and husband Carter of Dallas, son, John Janicek, Sr. of Bellville, brother, Alfred Janicek, Sr. of Wallis, grandchildren, John Janicek, Jr. and wife Sarah, Jared Janicek and wife Stephanie, Jacob Janicek, Jason Green, Stephanie Green and Mark Green and great granddaughters, Jillian Janicek and Abbey Janicek. Preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Clara Janicek. Memorial Contributions may be made to Guardian Angel Catholic Church, P.O.
