**HAZEL LOUISE FRANK KUJAWA**
Bellville Times Hazel Louise Frank Kujawa was born a second generation child of German parents, Bernhard and Alvina Schroeder Frank in Austin County on November 4, 1916. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Rufus Kujawa, her parents and 2 brothers, Candy Frank and Otis Frank. She died Saturday, November 10, 2007. Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007 at Our Savior Lutheran Church with Dr. Lawrence L. White officiating. Interment was at 2 PM. at Oak Knoll Cemetery in Bellville. Pallbearers were Harold Frank, Kenny Sillavan, Norman Adams, Allen Frank, Bubba Frank and Gary Fox. She is survived by her son: Jim Kujawa of Houston; daughter: Bobbi Kujawa Kelly and her husband, Kenneth, of Houston; two grandchildren: Michael Kelly and his wife, Nethia and Terry Kelly Langdon and her husband, Jon; four great grandchildren: Sam and Kyle Kelly and Jessica and Emily Smith/Langdon; sisters: Nettie Bell Sillavan, Etta Mae Ottmer and Betty Lou Luedecke; her sisters-in-law: Louise Frank and Katy Frank. Numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She is also survived by her sisters in Christ: Ruby Bauerkemper, Corine Froelich, Mata Shautschick, Ola Mae Synotte, Millard Holmand and Cindy Wright, all of Houston. Hazel grew up in Austin County where she went to Piney school. She often talked about riding a horse to school and working on the farm. Hazel moved from Austin County and married Rufus Kujawa on June 1, 1936. She had a very full and busy life. She was confirmed in 1947 at the Our Savior Lutheran Church. Both their lives were centered around Our Savior Lutheran Church where they made many lifelong friends. She was a member of the Sewing Circle and the Night Circle, PEP, and did volunteer work in the office and gate duty. Hazel helped work in the kitchen at OSL, and was involved in Girl Scouts many years ago. She and Rufus helped build the old scout building behind the little white church on North Shepherd. They both helped on extending and enlarging the old church. Alter Guild duty consisted of putting out the alter flowers, cleaning the Pastor's robes and setting up communion. She played volleyball, basketball and bowled for the church team. They were both very involved in the church family. Bauerkemper, Hubers and Kujawa's were one big happy family. Many vacations were spent camping at the river, or staying at the camp house in Ives Creek where more friends and family would arrive until tents had to be set up. Kids slept outside, took boat rides and cooked over camp fires. New Years Eve was still celebrated together every year. Last year the widows were all together as usual. They went to church, had dinner, played cards, had drinks, watched fireworks, and went to bed around 2 a.m. It started all over again the next day with food, drinks, cards and football pots. After working for Smith and Hadfield (Now Quick Copies) she then started her own office supply store (K.K. Office Supplies) where she and Jimmy worked until 1991. After retirement she and Rufus moved to Bellville and lived until Rufus passed away in January, 1993. Her love of travel has taken her to many places around the world, her suitcase was always half packed and jumping in the closet. She has traveled this country from sea to shining sea, Canada, Mexico, South America, Caribbean Islands, England, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France, Italy, Greece, Turkey and at 90 she was still flying by herself to El Paso to visit with Michael and Nethia, Sam and Kyle. She saw her two great granddaughters, Jessica and Emily, almost every day after school. Making YO-YO quilts, pillows, and pictures was her past time in her latter years. Dominos and Skip-Bo were her two favorite games to play. She played these games with Ruby Bauerkemper, Corine Froelich, Ruch Huber, Ida Mallery, Dot Mierchent, Mata Schautschick and Ellen Nelson. She has out lived all but Ruby, Mata and Corine, as one of the original players. Hazel has seen more things and done more things in her lifetime than most people would ever get to do in their lifetime. She started her life by riding horses, wagons, then on to a Model A, faster cars, planes, trains, boats and had she lived long enough she would have opted for a space ride. She has left this world accomplishing every things she ever wanted to do. Gigi, as she is called by her grandchildren and great grandchildren has been a great joy in all of our lives. From the grandchildren putting frogs in her bed to the great grandchildren who thought it was great fun to mess up her pillows. She now joins her family and friends in heaven. She will be missed very much by many people but her life will be carried on through her grandchildren and great grandchildren's love of her. Arrangements by Schmidt Funeral Homes.
