Funeral Services for Robert Melton Lee, 71, were held at 10 a.m., Friday, March 2, 2007 at Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tony Ramos officiating. Interment was in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery. Lee was born December 25, 1935 in Houston, the son of Marvin M. and Mattie C. Chapman Lee. He grew up in the Houston, graduating from Lamar High School. He married Catherin Bishop in 1968 in Houston. Robert and his business partner started their own company in 1975 called Surface Techniques. He made his home in the Houston area until he moved to Bellville in 1982, retiring in 2000. Cathern died in 1988. Robert and his son started a father and son dirt construction business in 2001 named Land Transformation Services, Inc. On June 5, 1990, he was united in marriage with Chris De La Garza. They made their home in the Bellville area throughout their marriage and on November 1993 they shared the joy of the birth of their daughter Christal Lee. Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, taking care of his cattle and eating and the love of his life was spending time with his family. Robert passed away Monday, February 26, 2007 in Bryan. He was 71. He is survived by his wife: Chris Lee of Bellville; son: Robert Lee of LaGrange; daughters: Wendy Elliott and her husband, Cris, of Rockdale and Christal Rae Lee of Bellville; step children: Gabriel Vargas and his wife, Brandy, of Houston, DeAnna Vargas of Spring; and Jackie Vargas of Houston; also surviving Robert are grandchildren, Taylor Doucett, Tyler Elliott, Kimmy Lee, Kori Lee, Dillon Lee, and Marion Lee; sisters, Leta Lee Jones and her husband Larry, Carolyn Gonzales and her husband Alex, and Pat Wright and her husband, Ron. He was preceded in death by both parents, Marvin and Mattie Lee; and former wife Cathern Lee. In lieu of usual remembrnces friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Shriner's Hospital of Children, 6977 Main Street, Houston, Tx 77030. Arrangements were by Schmidt Funeral Home.
