Lewallen Funeral services for Joe B. Lewallen, Sr., 70, of New Ulm were held Friday, Dec. 28, 2007 at 11 a.m. from Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel in Bellville with Bill Ball officiating. Pallbearers were Michael Stricker, Jake Lewallen, Eric Schrock, Jeff Moore, Allen Rust, and Philip Hyams. Born in Brady, Texas, Joe was the son of Allen Lou and Ethel (Shuffield) Lewallen. Joe served his country in the U.S. Army in the 82th Airborne during the Cuban Missile Crisis and was part of the Honor Guard in President Kennedyıs Inaugural Parade. On May 29, 1956, Mr. Joe Lewallen was joined in marriage to the former Miss Nancy Lyon with a ceremony held in Odessa. He worked as a Branch Manager for Odessa Pumps in Houston. Joe was a member of the First Baptist Church of Brenham. Joe B. Lewallen passed away on Sunday, December 23, 2007 in Cypress, Texas. Joe is survived by his daughters, Cathy Taggart and husband Aaron of Houston, Nancy Stricker of New Ulm, son, Joe Lewallen, Jr. and wife Jana of Portland, Texas, sister Lynette Long and husband Tommy of San Antonio, brother-in-law, George C. Lyon Jr. and wife Sandy of Longview, grandchildren Lindsay Schrock and husband Eric, Jake Lewallen, Erica Lewallen, Michael Stricker, Kassie Hyams, Amy Moore and husband Jeff, Sara Green, Chris Taggart and wife Kyla and Candice Taggart, great grandchildren, Cameron Hyams, Joshua Green, Jacob Green, Keenan Taggart, Hailee Taggart and Lace Taggart. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Nancy Lewallen and mother-in-law, Nellie Lyon. Services under the direction of Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel in Bellville Posted by Joy Neely
