Luedke Willard Herman "Bubba" Luedke was born Jan. 26, 1936 in William Penn, Texas, the son of Willie August and Clara Mertens Luedke. He grew up and attended school in Brenham. He then served his country in the United State National Guard. On Jan. 21, 1956, Bubba was united in marriage with Carmen Grawunder at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Houston. Bubba and Carmen made their home in Houston where Bubba worked for Sears and Roebuck. After 22 years of service, he retired and opened Luedke Heating and Air Conditioning in Spring which he operated for 10 years. For the next 10 years, he was employed by the Brenham State school retiring in 1998. Bubba and Carmen have made their home in Bellville since 1981, where they have been members of St. John Lutheran Church. An avid Astros fan, Bubba enjoyed gardening and playing dominoes. He passed away Monday, Nov. 19, 2007, in Houston at the age of 71. He is survived by his wife of more than 50 years Carmen Luedke of Bellville; daughter Leann Cochrell and her husband, Darryl of Tomball; sons Farrell Luedke and his girlfriend, Kim Krause of Brenham, Mark Luedke and his wife Betty of Ledbetter; grandchildren Amber Barton and her husband, Brent, Heather Cochrell. Wade Luedke and Katy Luedke; great grandchildren Connor and Lacey Barton; 2 sisters; 3 brothers; and many other dear friends and other relatives. Bubba was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral service was 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007 at St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville with Pastor David Henske and Pastor Jennie Jones, officiating. Interment was in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Bellville. Serving as pallbearers were Jackie Luedke, Brian Fleissner, Collin Frazier, Curtis Luedke, Kirby Frazier and Gerald Nixon.
