Machemehl Alberta Grace Hakim Machemehl, born April 13, 1923 to the Rev. and Mrs. Albert C. Hakim in Chicago, passed away Dec. 6, 2007 in Houston. She was employed by Cravens Dargan and Co. and St. Paul's Co's. Mrs. Machemehl was a long-time member of Collins Methodist Church where she taught children and adult classes. When Collins merged with St. Mark's United Methodist, she taught the three M class with others. Alberta enjoyed playing the piano, working in and around the house, and traveling. Her favorite Bible verse was 1 Corinthians 13:13 "And now abide faith, hope and love; but the greatest of these is love." Alberta is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, William Lee Machemehl; brother Albert C. Hakim and wife Lois; nephews David Machemehl and Charles Hakim and niece Charlene Machemehl. Special thanks to the staff of The Cottage of Spring Branch for their loving care of Alberta. The family received friends from noon-1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 10, 2007 in the Chapel of Heights Funeral Home. Funeral service began at 1 p.m. followed by interment in Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston. For those desiring, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the St. mark's United Methodist Church, 600 Pecore, Houston, Texas 77009. Heights Funeral Home was in charge of arranegements.
