MARSHA HUGHES CALLOWAY MANLEY

Marsha Hughes Calloway Manley, a resident of Alpine, Texas since 2001,
passed away due to a stroke on Jan. 19, 2007. She was born Sept. 11, 1945 in
Houston.
She was a mother, educator, friend and active community member who enriched
the lives of everyone she encountered.
She was educated at Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches and the
University of Houston, where she received her Master of Science Degree of
Education. From 1968 until her death, she worked as a special education
teacher and/or principal in several Texas cities.
Her first year with Bellville ISD, she was a special education teacher at
Bellville Junior High School.
Beginning with the 1985-1986 school year she served as principal and special
education teacher at West End Elementary School. Then beginning with the
1995-1996 school year she served as the principal of Spicer Alternative
Campus until her retirement in 2001.
She is survived by her children Jason Manley and wife Kristie of Brenham,
Holli Manley of Austin and 3 grandchildren: Calloway, Camille, and Cannon
Manley, all of Brenham. She is also survived by two brothers Steve Calloway
of Tyler, Texas and Gary "Catfish" Calloway of Terlingua, Texas, and by a
number of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her son
Michael.
Memorial services were scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007 at 2 p.m. at
the First Presbyterian Church in Alpine, Texas. The Rev. McLeod officiated.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in Marshals name be
made to your favorite charity. West End Elementary School Library is also
accepting donations in memory of Mrs. Manley.
