McMurrey Memorial Services for Clarence Willard ³Mac² McMurrey, 82, of Sealy were held on Monday, January 15, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. from First United Methodist Church in Sealy with Rev. John Tyler officiating. Interment was in the San Felipe Cemetery. Clarence McMurrey was born July 11, 1924 in Gonzales, Texas to Oma Yeater McMurrey and Marion Jackson McMurrey. He passed away on January 11, 2007 in Houston. Mac grew up in the Hallettsville, Texas area. As a teenager, he moved to Houston and later served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. On May 29, 1948 he married Evelyn Haedge of Sealy, Texas. They raised their two daughters and son in the Spring Branch area of Houston. Mac worked as a Sales Manager at Crane Supply Co. for 34 years. Upon his retirement in August 1985, he and Evelyn moved to Sealy. Retirement suited him well. He loved living in the country and could always be found on his tractor, working in his garden or tending to his cows. He also loved home cooking especially Evelynıs homemade pies. Mac and Evelyn joined the First United Methodist Church of Sealy February 22, 1987. Mac was active with the Methodist Men, sang in the choir and worked on many of the church committees. On May 2005, he and Evelyn were honored by their church for their outstanding volunteer service. Mac was involved with the American Legion and he was a 32nd degree Mason. As a devoted family man, Mac especially loved his grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Evelyn Haedge McMurrey, his daughter, Nancy Cunningham and husband Jack of Austin, Texas, daughter, Donna Brown and husband Bill of Marietta, Georgia and son Gary McMurrey of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Kelly Cunningham Dayle and husband Bryan of Cedar Creek, Texas, Kristin Cunningham of Grapevine, Texas and Mack and Kaitlyn Brown of Marietta, Georgia. He is also survived by his sister, Norene Necker of Spring, Texas, a brother, Earl McMurrey of Cat Spring, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews. Mac is preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Clifton, Bennett, Morris and Raymond. The family appreciates the many acts of kindness shown by friends and family during Macıs illness, including prayers, calls, cards, food, visits and rides to the doctor. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the First United Methodist church of Sealy or the charity of your choice.
