Joan Marie Viaclovsky Reuss went to be with her Lord on March 10, 2007, with her ³girls² at her side. Joan was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Theodore and Bessie Viaclovsky and spouse Theodore A. Reuss, M.D. She will be sorrowfully missed by her loving daughters Sharon Strickland of New Braunfels and husband Allen, Yvonne Nickles of San Antonio and husband Don, and Lauren Wichlep of LaPorte; Grandchildren Joseph A. Strickland of Austin, Christopher A. Strickland of McQueeney, and Rachel Marie Maston of San Antonio. She is also survived by her first husband and father of her children Fred Wichlep of League City. Joan leaves a precious family of cats and cherished friends and family both near and across the country. Joan will be remembered for her strong love for her family, friends and cats. Her life was filled with music and she holds the distinction of being the first woman to receive a degree in music from Sam Houston State Teachers College. She taught music most of her life privately and in the public school system as well as serving as choir director at St. John Vianney and St. Cecilia¹s Catholic Churches in Houston. Joan was devoted to the Catholic Church and celebrated a fervent belief in eternal life. Her family extends heart felt thanks to the many friends who helped her achieve her wish of living out her life in her home in Wallis. Mass of the Resurrection was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at Guardian Angel Catholic Church. Pallbearers were Christopher Strickland, Joseph Strickland, Leon Viaclovsky, Syl Viaclovsky, Ron Viaclovsky and Mickey Porter.. Interment followed at Wallis City Cemetery.
