Richter Cizel Brast Richter was born Nov. 8, 1917, the daughter of Herman and Martha Peters Brast. One of six children, she grew up and attended school in the Raccoon Bend area. On Feb. 6, 1935, she was united in marriage with Eddie Richter in Bellville. They made their home in Bellville where they were members of St. John Lutheran Church. Eddie preceded Cizel in death on May 10, 1996 after 61 wonderful years of marriage. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Cizel enjoyed sewing, crafting and quilting. She was a member of the Cancer Angels of Austin County, which is part of the Austin County Unit of the American Cancer Society, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Bellville VFW Post #6522. She passed away Monday. July 30, 2007 in Houston at the age of 89 years, 6 months and 30 days. She leaves behind her son Kent Richter and his wife, Terry, of Houston; 2 grandchildren Rae Matthews and her husband Eric of Houston and Lee Richter and his wife. Karen of Arlington; great grandchildren Parker and Emma Matthews, of Houston, Morgan, Alex and Ryan Richter, all of Arlington; a number of nieces and nephews from the Richter, Brast, Krumrey and Wiese families, and many dear friends. Besides her husband, Eddie, she was also preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Rufina, Pearlie and Hazel and her brothers Eric and Ervin. Visitation was Thursday, Aug. 2, 2007 from 5-7 p.m. at Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service was Friday, Aug. 3, 2007 at 10 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville with Pastor Jennie Jones and Pastor David Henske officiating. Interment was in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Eldon Brast, Harold Brast, Dan Brast, George Hinze, Robert Richter and Donald Krumrey. In lieu of usual remembrances, friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the: St. John Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 520 N. Holland, Bellville, Texas 77418, or to the Austin County Unit of the American Cancer Society, C/O Verna Lois Deere, P.O. Box 501, Bellville, Texas 77418.
