Jeanette Gibson Rush was born May 7, 1930 in Greenville, Hunt County, Texas. The daughter of Merritt H. and Cordymae Sandifer Gibson, she grew up and attended school in Longview. After graduating from Longview High School in 1946, she attended Kilgore Junior College where she was a member of the Kilgore Rangerettes, graduating in 1948. On Oct. 27, 1951, Jeanette was united in marriage with Jim Willis Rush at her parents' home in Longview. They lived in the Houston area for 40 years, and have made their home in Sealy for the past 28 years. Jeanette was a very detailed individual and liked playing cards, traveling and she also enjoyed homemaking and crafts. A member of the First Christian Church of Katy, she was a very active and dedicated member. Jeanette passed away on her 77th birthday. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years Jim Rush of Sealy; daughter and son-in-law Kathleen and Juan Hernandez of Denton; grandchildren John C. and Mark A. Hernandez and Lee Ann Kelly of Denton and friend Beverly Kukal. She was preceded in death by her parents, Merritt and Cordymae Gibson. Pallbearers were Juan Hernandez, John Hernandez, Mark Hernandez, Russ Bookout. Honorary Pallbearers were Mike Bannert, David Bryant and Bobby Morrow. Funeral service was 9 a.m., Friday, May 11, 2007 at Schmidt Funeral Home with the Rev. J. David Hargrave officiating. Graveside service was 4 p.m. at College Mound Cemetery in Terrell, Texas.
