Vornkahl
Ruby Lee Vornkahl was born July 18, 1925 in Austin County, Texas, the
daughter of Walter and Hattie (Ludwig) Vornkahl.
She grew up in Millheim and Bellville and attended the Bellville Public
Schools. After graduating from Bellville High School in 1945, Ruby served as
Sunday School Secretary at the Bellville United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed attending church and Sunday School, and was a member of the Joy
Sunday School Class. Ruby had also enjoyed taking trips with the First
National Bank and the Bellville United Methodist Church. She liked to watch
television at the nursing home, especially the wrestling matches.
Ruby passed away Monday. March 19, 2007 in a Bellville nursing facility at
the age of 81. She is survived by her mother Hattie Vornkahl of Bellville;
aunt Oradell Ludwig of Brenham; and numerous cousins and good friends.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Funeral service was 2 p.m., Friday. March 23, 2007 at Schmidt Funeral Home
Chapel with the Rev. Robert Stutes, officiating.
Serving as pallbearers were John Frels, Leroy Vornkahl, Edward Schubert,
Melvin Vornkahl, Keith Robertson and Billy Steck.
Honorary pallbearers were Henry Lee Vornkahl, Ernest Henry Trenckmann and
Robert Frels.
Interment was in Millheim Cemetery.
Schmidt Funeral Home  of Bellville was in charge of arrangements.
