Funeral services for Mr. Douglas Fal, Sr., 76, of Bellville were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 29 from the Chapel of the Etlinger Funeral Home in
Bellville with Rev. Buford Finley officiating. Burial was in Oak Knoll Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Otto Falk, Jr., Richard Falk, Jon Falk, Curtis Beckham, Jeff Falk and David. A flag folding ceremony was conducted at graveside by members of Bellville VFW Post 6522.
Mr. Falk died at 9:15 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 27, 1989 at Colonial Belle Nursing Home in Bellville following a lengthy illness.
He was born Aug. 12, 1913 in the Ives Creek Community, the son of Charles D. and Ida Shelburne Falk. Mr. Falk was raised at Ives Creek, where he attended public school.
On Dec. 18, 1941, he was married to the former Marqurette Woodruff in Bay St. Louis, Miss.
Mr. Falk was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He worked for Exxon for 38 years, and was also a farmer and
rancher.
He was a member of Bellville VFW Post 6522, the Bellville United Methodist Church, Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association and the Austin County
Livestock Association. He was also a member of the Woodmen of the World.
Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Glenn Neutzler of Brenham; son and daughter-in-law, Douglas Jr. and Debra Falk of Bellville; sisters,
Lalabell “Dolly” Kielberg of Bellville, Isabell Canter of Houston, Sally Beckham of Trinity and Kathleen Peters of Bryan; brothers, Otto J. Falk and T.D.
Falk, both of Bellville; and five grandchildren, Dusty Falk, Dana Falk, Julie Falk and Kyle and Cody Nuetzler. His wife preceded him in death on May 17, 1964. Contributed by Kay Watt
