Funeral services for Mr. Ben Waak, 92, of the Coshatte Community, were
held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 14 from the Etlinger Funeral Home Chapel in Bellville with Rev. William Rotter officiating. Burial was in Coshatte Cemetery. Pallbearers were C. W. Waak, Ricky (?) Waak, Tom Kesten, John Waak, Monroe Waak Jr. and Dr. Tom Waak. Mr. Waak died at 1:50 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 12, 1990 at Bellville General Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born Nov. 2, 1897 in Bellville, the son of Herman Waak Sr. and Bertha Grabow Waak. He attended school in Coshatte and also Bellville High School. A farmer and rancher, Mr. Waak also worked for Howard Hughes for a few years. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Bellville. Mr. Waak was also a member of the Austin County Cattlemen's Association, the Coshatte Agricultural Society and was on of the original founders of the Austin County Farm Bureau. Survivors include: sister, Helen Waak of Coshatte; and a brother, Monroe Waak of Lufkin. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Submitted by Cheryl Gross
