Funeral services for Fred Zander, 88, of Bellville were held on
Tuesday August 19, 1999 at 4 p.m. from Knesek Bros./Etlinger
Funeral Chapel in Bellville with the Rev. Harold Sellers
officiating.
Interment followed at the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery outside of
Bellville.
Serving as pallbearers for the service were James Harden Jr., Johnny Harden, Micah Harden, Glen Harden, Paul Tarwater and Curtis Tarwater. Honorary pallbearers were Joshua Harden, Janice Santos, James Harden III, Jill Flatt and Jeannie Smith.
Born Aug. 2, 1911 in Austin County, Fred was the son of Fritz
and Ida Scholtz Zander. He was raised in the Buckhorn Community
and attended the Freitag School. He was a member as well as a
Decon of Cochran Street Church, Westview Baptist Church and
First Baptist Church of Bellville.
On Dec. 5, 1931 he married Helen Slama in Hempstead, Texas. He
was employed by Duncan Coffee, Maryland Club Coffee and Coca
Cola as a mechanic.
Mr. Zander died Sunday, Aug. 8, 1999 in Bellville.
He is survived by his wife Helen Zander of Bellville; two
daughters Ruth Jean Harden and her husband Jim of Bellville and
Carole Tarwater and her husband Mel of Bellville; 7
grandchildren James Harden Jr., Johnny Harden, Janice Santos,
Jeannie Smith, Paul Tarwater, Curtis Tarwater, and Jill Flatt; 9
great grandchildren James Harden III, Micah Harden, Glen Harden,
Joshua Harden, Sara Santos, Rachel Santos, Mikayla Smith, Tyler
Flatt and Molly Flatt; 2 great-great grand children Micayla
Harden and Micah Harden Jr.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters Erna Belle
Schomburg and Etta Mae Frank.
Memorial contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church
of Bellville.
