Sealy is a town in Austin County, Texas, located about 50 miles west of Houston along Interstate 10. It is the largest city in Austin County and serves as a key economic and cultural hub for the region.
History
Founded in the 1870s as a railroad
town by the Gulf, Colorado & Santa Fe Railway. It was named after
George Sealy, a prominent railroad investor. Sealy Mattress Company,
one of the world’s largest bedding manufacturers, was founded here
in 1881 before relocating to Houston.
