Historical Marker Dedication

Courtesy Photo

County Judge Craig Doyle has set the dedication of Montgomery County's first historical marker for Oct. 13, at 8:30 a.m. at Shepard's Barber Shop located at 116 Simonton in downtown Conroe. The building was constructed in 1911 after the Conroe fire of February 1911. Known then as the "Little Jack West Building," it has served as a local barber shop since 1912. Bobby Joe Shepard, left, is the owner of the building, although he retired a few years ago and the barber shop is now owned by Leon Apostolo, right.
