..."My resources state that the heirs of John Bricker were given 960 acres for John's service military service to the Republic of Texas in its war of independence with Mexico. The land
was awarded to the heirs in 1845. The record states that the land was in Montgomery and San Jacinto counties. These counties lie adjacent to each other. In fact, San Jacinto county was organized in 1869 from these counties, (formerly part of the
Atascosito District) Liberty , Montgomery, Polk and Walker. So in 1845, the property was considered to be in Montgomery County...

John Bricker came to Texas from Tennessee. He owned 109 acres in Washington County, Tennessee in 1814 according to the book, Early East Tennessee Tax Lists, by Mary Barnett
Curtis...According to the Marriage Record of Washington County Tennessee, 1787-1840, John Bricker married E. Sisk on November 18, 1839..."
