Inez Barkley Elmore was born
May 25, 1909, in Taylor, Texas, and was the daughter of Ernest Barkley and
Nannie Covington Barkley She was a charter member of Montgomery County
Genealogical Society. Inez, along with Rosamunde Stewart, interviewed
Minnie Powell Bowers in March 1978. Her contributions to the Montgomery
County genealogical community were extraordinary. She will be missed.

Inez Elmore
died in Conroe, Texas on Feb. 18, 2005 at the age of 95. She is the widow
of F. H. Elmore and mother of the late Barkley Elmore. She taught school
in the Coldspring, Aldine, and Conroe School Districts for many years.
Mrs. Elmore devoted much of her time to the study of genealogy and was a
member of the following: Margaret Montgomery Chapter National Society
Daughters of the American Revolution, Charter Member of Colonial Dames of
the 17th Century and the Montgomery County Genealogical Society. She
served as Elder for the First Presbyterian Church of Conroe. She is
survived by one brother, Ernest Barkley of Corpus Christi;
daughter-in-law, Eve Elmore; grandsons, Kyle Elmore and wife Leigh Ann,
and Bubba Elmore and wife Nicole; three great-grandchildren, Jessica,
Julia, and Sarah; nieces, nephews and their children. Funeral Services are
set for 10:30 a.m. Monday at Old Waverly Presbyterian Church. Interment
will follow in Old Waverly Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5 - 7 p.m.
Sunday at Metcalf Funeral Home. She will be deeply missed by her family.
Her family would like to thank Richard Davis and her friends at Brentwood
who cared for Inez with much kindness and grace. |
