Obituary |
Sara Katherine Morton passed away on March 11, 2013, after a
brief illness. She was born September 1, 1924 in Belton, TX, the
daughter of O. H. and Erline Kellogg. |

She was a graduate of Lamar High School in
Houston and the University
of Texas in
Austin. She married John Davis (Jack) Morton in 1945. They lived
in several states in their early marriage, finally settling in
the Houston/Conroe area in 1965. Katherine was honored to have
the jobs of mother and homemaker. |
|
She loved to swim and played tennis until the age of 80. Her
other interests included genealogy, sewing, and needlepoint. She
was active in her church, the Daughters of the American
Revolution, the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, and the
River Plantation Garden Club, and was a member of the Colonial
Dames and the Huguenot Society. She volunteered for many years
in the genealogy section of the Montgomery County Library. She
was proud to be able to trace her lineage to the Austin family
of early Texas. |

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, three sons; Davis
(Susan) Morton, Richard (Connie) Morton and Harold (Shelley)
Morton; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. |

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March
27th at The Woodlands United Methodist Church, 2200 Lake
Woodlands Dr., The Woodlands, TX. Memorials may be sent to the
The Woodlands United Methodist Church Foundation. |
