Funeral services for Doris Simpson will be Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001 at
11:00 AM in the Metcalf Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Cliff Herrington and
Rev. Tom Koop will be officiating. Mrs. Simpson was born Aug 14, 1917 in
Navasota, TX and passed away Jan 8, 2001 in Conroe. Mrs. Simpson is survived
by her husband, J. W. of Conroe, son Joe W. Simpson, III MD of Austin,
sister-in-law, Virginia Ruth Simpson Clarke and husband, Jack of Mountain
Home, TX. Nieces: Nicole Bilbao and husband Ray of Frisco, TX and their son
Jack Raymond Bilbao of Frisco, TX: Carey Bond and husband of Coburn of Mountain
Home, TX: grandchildren, Molly Lauren Simpson and Julie Elizabeth Simpson
of Austin, TX; and their mother, Laurie Ruddy of Austin, TX; cousin Betty
Stinson Gowing of Conroe; and special friends, Sammie Gregory and Janet Knox.
Mrs. Simpson was a Pioneer in Women's Athletics having retired from Conroe
Independent School District after 33 years as a Physical Education teacher.
Mrs. Simpson was a graduate of Montgomery High School, graduate of Baylor
University, a member of the Montgomery County Genealogical & Historical
Society, The American Daughters of Revolutions Society and member of Daughters
Republic of Texas. Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan 10, 2001 from 4-8 PM
at the funeral home. Interment will follow under the direction of Metcalf
Funeral Directors in the Oakwood Cemetery.
